AMBASSADOR N. OYUNDARI PARTICIPATED IN THE COMMEMORATIVE EVENTS AND HISTORICAL REENACTMENT PERFORMANCES DEDICATED TO THE BATTLE OF LEGNICA OF 1241
Ambassador N. Oyundari participated in the commemorative events and historical reenactment performances dedicated to the Battle of Legnica of 1241, held in Legnica, Republic of Poland, on 5–6 June 2026.
The Battle of Legnica took place on 9 April 1241 and is considered one of the most significant historical events in Europe during the westward military campaigns of the Mongol Empire. In this battle, the Mongol forces were commanded by the princes Baidar, Kadan, and Orda, who led a contingent of Batu Khan’s western campaign army, while the united European forces were led by Henry II the Pious, Duke of Silesia and Prince of Poland.
The authorities of Legnica have preserved the memory of this historic battle and continue the tradition of organizing annual reenactment events. This year’s commemorative program brought together local government representatives, historians, researchers, and historical reenactors from various countries.
During the event, Ambassador N. Oyundari highlighted the centuries-old historical connections between Mongolia and Poland. She emphasized that the scientific study and objective interpretation of historical events, as well as the organization of an international-scale reenactment that attracts thousands of spectators each year, make an important contribution to contemporary bilateral cooperation.
Today, relations between Mongolia and Poland are actively developing across the political, economic, educational, cultural, and humanitarian sectors. This historical event, which connects the peoples of the two countries, serves as an important bridge of mutual understanding and friendship.
