Ambassador N. Oyundari participated in the high-level event “European Coal in Transition: From an Industrial Legend to Cutting-Edge Research for the Future,” held in Jastrzębie-Zdrój, a prominent coal mining hub and the base of the Jastrzębska Coal Company, the largest coal enterprise in Poland.

During the event, Ambassador Oyundari delivered a speech highlighting the potential for enhanced Mongolian-Polish cooperation in the mining, coal extraction, and processing sectors. She emphasized the importance of leveraging Poland’s extensive expertise in coal mining, enrichment as well environmental rehabilitation noting that Mongolia could adopt relevant technologies to bolster its own industrial capabilities.

The Ambassador also drew attention to the upcoming 17th Session of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD COP17), which will focus on addressing global environmental challenges. Mongolia’s initiatives in environmental protection will be crucial in achieving sustainable development not only in Mongolia but globally.

The event was held under the framework of Poland’s presidency of the Council of the European Union, a position that underscores the country’s leadership in industrial innovation and sustainable resource management. With a coal mining history spanning nearly 1,000 years, Poland continues to operate several successful mines, offering valuable insights and technological expertise for Mongolia to explore.
