Emergency Travel Document /ETD/ of Mongolia allows Mongolian nationals to travel urgently from outside the Mongolia when they can’t use their passport, such as if it’s lost, stolen, or damaged. It’s a temporary travel document valid for a duration of time, designed for a single returning trip to Mongolia.

To obtain an ETD, the applicant must prepare the following documents and appear in person at the Embassy of Mongolia in Warsaw:

  1. An application form stating the reason for requesting the ETD

  2. A copy of the National ID card or national passport; for children, a copy of the birth certificate

  3. If the passport has been lost: a certificate issued by the Police Department of the district of residence (in the Republic of Poland)

  4. Two passport photos (3.5 x 4.5 cm, white background, no glasses, front-facing, taken within the last 3 months)

  5. Fee

The ETD is valid for up to 6 months from the date of issuance and may be used only once.

Therefore, you may enter Mongolia using the ETD within this validity period.

An ETD cannot be used to travel, stay overnight, or move through other countries except for direct transit. It is permitted only for transit passage.

When you enter Mongolia, the General Authority for Border Protection will collect your ETD and forward it to the General Authority for State Registration.
