AMBASSADOR N. OYUNDARI MET WITH FORMER PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF POLAND LECH WAŁĘSA

Ambassador N. Oyundari met with former President of the Republic of Poland Lech Wałęsa on 27 May 2026 and exchanged views on the historical experience of democratic transition in Mongolia and Poland, as well as its relevance today.

Following the meeting, the Ambassador visited the European Solidarity Centre, where she viewed the permanent exhibition dedicated to the “Solidarność” movement and Poland’s democratic transformation, gaining deeper insight into the country’s path to democracy.

During the wave of democratic change in Eastern Europe, Mongolian activists established contact with Poland’s Solidarity movement, whose support—ranging from sharing electoral experience to providing printing equipment, informational materials, and symbolic encouragement—played a meaningful role in Mongolia’s peaceful transition, the 1990 multi‑party elections, and ultimately the adoption of the 1992 Democratic Constitution.
